Ground Zero - Day 4

Me, H and my bro went back to the 'site' to check if we can go in & take our important belongings.
View of site from far. Still couldnt figure out how our daily route has turned into this.

Other residents walking to the site to enter their residence. Early morning, 'visitors' pun tak ramai lagi. Most of us are with our backpacks that we use to evacuate the other day.

Look at those booths. Rasa macam ada funfair lak kat sini. never been so happening! Feels like walking towards a pasar malam pun ada..berduyun-duyun orang.
Thanx to all police force, Bomba, PBSM, Mercy, Smart, Sojers..Pertahanan Awam...Pasukan Gerak Am (PGA), Rela and lots of other individuals involved in the rescue.

sini..terjungkit sana...terangkat kat sini...pity them..just imagine if we're in their shoes. Mana nak selamatkan family lagi...belongings, documents, the car, the house...huhu...and i believed most of them are almost retired..kesian nyer..

those houses on top of the hill definitely need to be evacuated. Cant imagine when they need to leave their house in a hurry, and might leave their important things or some momentos back-inside.

Our route

first time ever been in this. What an experience to walk on the militaries' 'moby-mat'. So now i know how they move and make connections.Time for eco-tour again. Good exercise huh. No matter u're young, old or foreigners, all need to walk to get back to their home.

fuhh..finally we reach the entrace.
when about to reach my house. Never before we walk from Giant to our house. Approximately 'bout 3 to 4km maybe.Hmm...sampai jugak akhirnya...nasib makcik fit.

Packed all my important docs, my office's attire and also few more clothing for the kids. Clean-up the fridge and take out all fresh item. Need to also dig out some clothing from the laundry basket..pick-up few towels and toiletries.

Here are some emergency tips from me:

1. Always keep your important docs in a bag.

2. Make sure yr handphone's battery is at least around 60-80% at all times.

3. Always know where your torchlight is.

4. Get out of the house with a bottle of mineral water.

5. Jangan tido mati.

H and bro loading things into the cars. Exit from the condo. Can already see few reporters.

Traffic doesnt move at all. The cars siap mati enjin & ramai yg keluar & hisap2 rokok kat bawah pokok. Then H suggest for us to take our lunch first as this will surely gonna took a while.

Made a u-turn and move to Puncak Utama where the supplier spot is.

The relief spot at Puncak Utama. They told us that lunch will only available in 2 hours time as this spot can only reachable by choppers. Told us that they only have the breakfast.

Good enuf for us. A pack of nasi goreng ikan bilis and egg sandwich, just nice to fill-in our stomach after walking for 1 1/2 hours.

Back into our car. Me and my bro. So, dapatla daku snap tones of pics.

Thanx to all rescuers and volunteers involved in the rescue. Good willing, they manage to rescue about 4 people that has been buried the other day.

Look at this guy. It was damn hot at this time. Not everybody willing to stood still under the heat, me either. Dunno whats gonna happened without them. Theres a deep thought for me to join the volunteers team in the future.

Evacuation

Once we have packed, drive down to the area just to check how massive it is as we're totally lost. There's no pic in the net, just news of the catastrophy.

Gosh..it was bad man....cant believe my eyes,..those beatiful rows of bungalows are turning into these. It was swept away across the road till the end of Tmn Bkt Mewah...

the road. we're stranded, there's no way for rescuers to reach us from here. Look at the road...this will take days to be cleared,...gosh.naseb my fav bun galow tak kena..fyi, this has just completed bout 2 years ago.

Yayyyy..we're finally arrived on top. Then it started to drizzle. Huh, lucky we're here on time.

We got on rescuers lorry and was carried to Giant. My bro came to the rescue.

Then it started to rain heavily....pity them, how they gonna continue the rescue.

At time being 3 has been confirmed dead, and about 6 to 7 are still buried. Pray hard that those trapped inside the rumble can safely be found.

Bukit Antarabangsa Landslide

i'm trapped!!!
we're out of electricity and phone line. lucky i'm using the broadband.
We're surrounded by helicopters...will try to get out from here by late afternoon.









KUALA LUMPUR:

A massive landslide occurred in Bukit Antarabangsa at 4am Saturday. As of 10.45am Saturday, four people are confirmed dead and 15 injured.
The landslide cut off access by the main road to the residential areas at Bukit Antarabangsa, trapping hundreds of residents.
A total of 3,000 to 5,000 residents in the vicinity of the landslide are going to be evacuated, said Selangor police chief Datuk Khalid Abu Bakar.


One of the bungalows hit by the Bukit Antarabangsa landslide.
He said the military has been roped in to create a slip road to enable trapped victims to be evacuated from the area.


Among the dead are a 30-year-old mother, her two-month-old baby and her maid.
A total of 93 people have been rescued while seven are still reported missing.
Also affected are 14 houses in Jalan Bukit Mewah and Jalan Mewah Utama.
The injured and the remains of the dead have been rushed to the Kuala Lumpur Hospital.
A total of 160 police, army, Ampang Jaya City Council (MPAJ) and medical personnel are involved in the search and rescue operation.


According to BERNAMA, the injured were given first aid at the Addinniah surau before being sent to hospital. At least 12 ambulances were spotted at the scene.
One of the affected bungalows is owned by Datuk Mohamed Thajudeen Abdul Wahab, the principal private secretary to the prime minister. Thajudeen and his family are safe. They were not at home at the time.


Bukit Antarabangsa assemblyman Azmin Ali said at the scene that earth movement continued to take place and that electricity supply to several housing estates in Bukit Antarabangsa was disrupted.
The site of Saturday's landslide is believed to be 1.5km from the Highland Towers apartment building which collapsed on Dec 11, 1993, killing 48 people.
